Rain Policy

At almost all events we run rain or shine! At a small number of events we offer a Rain Credit Guarantee . These events are clearly marked on the schedule page. Apart from these events there are no refunds or credits available due to inclement weather unless the weather is so bad that the track officials close the track (think "hurricane" or "ice").

If the forecast looks as though rain may be due on the track date you should ensure you come prepared to ride in the rain. This will involve at minimum:

A motorcycling rain suit to wear over your leathers (and boots if the boots are not waterproof - nothing is more miserable than wet feet at high speed);
DOT approved tires or roadracing "wets". Slicks will not be permitted on course during rain or if the line is wet for a significant portion of the track;
As a reminder, change your glycol (antifreeze) coolant for plain water or water with Water Wetter. If your coolant isn't clear or pink you'll have to change it;
Several sets of dry clothes and socks, several towels, something warm to drink, etc.;
A sense of humor.

Track riding in the rain can be extremely exciting - perhaps more fun than riding in the dry - if you approach it with the right attitude. Don't expect to beat your personal best time around the track that you set on that lovely warm day with your lovely warm slicks. Do expect to have your handling skills tested and improved.

Rain Credit Guarantee

At a small number of events, clearly marked on our schedule page (usually, Infineon dates in the deepest, darkest parts of winter) we offer a Rain Credit Guarantee. At these events, we will provide you with a credit you can use towards a future event if we cancel the event before any bikes enter the course.

We will cancel a Rain Credit Guarantee event if all of the following are true:

It is raining and the track is wet before the first bike enters the course
Forecasting services indicate that the chance that it will stop raining is low
The majority of riders in attendance agree that the event should be canceled

As soon as the first motorcycle enters the course, the event will be run rain or shine for the remainder of the day.

We do not cancel an event in advance, regardless of how dire the weather forecast looks. We've had events in the past that had a 95% rain prediction that were completely dry all day. Similarly, if the majority of riders at the event vote to ride in the rain, we ride in the rain and no credits will be issued to anyone. Therefore, no matter how bad the forecast looks it pays to show up so you can influence the decision to cancel or run. Please note that we always run rain or shine at Thunderhill and Buttonwillow.

If all the conditions above are met and the event is canceled, we will issue you (via email) with a code to use here at the website for a future event. The value of the code will be for whatever price you paid, minus $35. For example, if you paid $240, you will receive a $205 credit. The $35 holdback helps us pay some of the fixed costs that are incurred even if the event is canceled (track rental, ambulance, turn workers, etc are all significantly reduced but we still pay for about two hours of each).

For an event canceled under the Rain Credit Guarantee, Ticket Pack holders will be permitted to switch their ticket to an alternate event.
